Frontpoint Security’s History and Reputation

Frontpoint Security is a relatively new player in the market. It was founded and began operating in 2007 and has since been serving all 50 states, including Canada.

Frontpoint Security costs are divided into two: packages and plans. The company provides three basic device packages and three monthly plans to go with it.

The monthly rates remain the same all throughout the contract period, so there’s no need to worry about additional costs. Upfront costs refer to the payments you need to make for the equipment and its activation.

Unfortunately though, the devices only have a 3-year limited warranty as opposed to the lifetime warranties that other companies provide.

Top Tips for Buyers

If you’re interested in using Frontpoint Security to secure your home, you need to have a credit score of at least 600. This is a fairly low mark (Credit Sesame categorizes a score of 600 as poor) and shouldn’t be a major obstacle. However, if your score is below this, there are still other security providers out there.

Dealers and sales representatives aren’t aggressive too and customers have praised the company’s strategy to not pressure its future clients. Make sure to have a good idea of how many devices your house actually needs so you don’t spend in excess. Sales reps will be more than happy to help you out.

One of the benefits of Frontpoint’s devices is that they’re wireless and can be detached and reattached as you please. You can avail of the discount for the packages and spend only by the lower end of the price range by entering a three-year contract.

The contract auto-renews after the agreed expiration date. If you want to cancel, however, Frontpoint needs you to send in a certified letter with a return receipt at least two months before the contract’s expiration. This can be a big hassle for you if you no longer plan on using the system, but this is pretty standard in the industry.

Homeowners need to consider this carefully as the auto-renewal can subject them to cancellation fees.

You get to keep the equipment you’ve purchased after the contract expires. This will only work locally though as the account associated with the mobile app will be disabled.

Cancellation and Transfer Policies

As earlier mentioned, Frontpoint’s devices are wireless and can be easily moved. This makes it easier for you to take the company’s security to whichever place you would be moving to.

The company also provides you with moving kits for your equipment free of charge. And since they cover the entire United States, it’s almost unlikely that you’ll be in an area without cell coverage. When you decide to move, all you need to do is to inform the central station when you’d be disabling and re-enabling the devices.

Their easy transfer policies can help you avoid cancellation fees. The company charges 80% of the remaining contract should you decide to cancel. For example, if you have 24 months left on a contract where you’re paying $34.99 a month, you’ll need to pay $671.81 to cancel.

This 80% cancellation fee applies to all three plans.
